In other news, I filled in this huge slash survey over the course of the evening. I'm not quite sure why I bothered. I think I've been trying to avoid a) thinking about what the hell I'm doing with my life; b) doing my CV; and c) sorting out my room - I spent most of yesterday moving furniture ready for when my new bed comes and I still need to sort a bookcase out. Aaaaargh. Why do I have so many books and why are they so dusty?

How did you stumble into slash?	Through looking for SG-1 stuff when I first had internet access at university. I think I read gen for a few months and then hey! Slash.
Your first fandom and pairing:	SG-1 and Jack/Daniel
The first person you told about your new hobby:	Erm... no one? Apart from my friend from university who lurks on my journal and if she didn't know about slash before - she does now!
The fandoms you read:	At the moment, almost exclusively Harry Potter Maurader fic. Apart from the fab Troika fic that pops up on my flist occasionally - and there's not enough anymore dammit. Oh, and the Lotrips I find delivered to me through the flist. I can't turn down Billy/Dom! Though I'm a fandom whore so I expect this will change in a few months when I find something else shiny. I can see that Lost slash may become more appealing to me any time soon...

Favourite genres:	Depends what mood I'm in. I can't resist angst and unhappy endings - Sirius/Remus and Warren/Andrew anyone? I also like comedy done well. A good old fashioned PWP as long as it's not OOC and there's some semblance of plot.
Least favourite pairings:	I don't know really, that's a very open question! Seeing as I'm mostly reading HP at the moment: I can't really see Sirius with anyone else other than Remus. I'm not a big fan of Snape ships either.
Least favourite genres:	I'll pretty much read anything as long as it's well written.
What makes a story good?	Good writing.
What makes a story bad?	Bad writing!
The best author:	I don't know. I've got some pretty darn fabulous authors on my flist.

Deathfics	"I hate this character so lets kill them horribly" - I don't like. Seeing as some of my favourite characters are canonically dead - I guess so!
Non consensual/rape	Not something I'll seek out. I occasionally like reading it. I'm not really into reading about the ramifications of it. Nor am I into the fluffification of it.
Rape recovery	Not really read much. Doesn't sound particularly great.
FPS	I'm guessing that's Fictional Person? Obviously I love it.
RPS	I got over my 'OMG it's so wrong' thing a year ago. Love it.
RPG	Not really had anything to do with them.
First times	Love them. Especially first kisses.
Established relationships	With my favourite pairings - yes. With pairings I'm not so sure of - I need to be convinced as to why they're in the relationship.

Slashing a children's book/movie	I used to think it was a bit weird. But much like RPS, I soon saw the error of my ways.
Chanslash	Not a big fan. I am partial to the occasional Harry/Sirius and Harry/Remus but only as long as Harry isn't an actual sexually immature child. Because I can't read that. I guess that's a squick then.
Explicit sex	Yay! What's not to like?
The importance of charactarization	Very important. If it's not the characters that I know then I couldn't give a shit.
OOCness	See above. What's the point of saying you're writing about, say Harry Potter, if you're actually going to write about a fey teenage rentboy who happens to be called Harry? Sorry, that fic scarred me.
Canon	I'm all for canon. After all, what have we got without canon?
Fanon	Fanon's a funny thing. There're some fanon conventions that I take for granted I suppose. Occasionally I'm surprised that some things I see in fic all the time aren't actually canon. Though I usually want to throttle fanon Draco.
Cliches	A lot of the time, cliches are cliche for a reason. As long as it's well written with a fresh spin - that's ok.
Supernatural	I don't have any non-supernatural fandoms do I? So yeah, no problem.
MPREG	MY EYES. THEY BURN. Except for that one Elijah mpreg I read that was really funny and scarily - I hesitate to use the words realistic or believable here - good.
Wingfics	Only the crack!fic type. Like the one where the whole LOTR cast grew tails and horns and wings.
Genderfuck	Love it.
Crossovers	Written well? I don't mind.
Group Slut Fics	Not sure what the exact definition of that would be but it sounds interesting...
Incest	Not so much. HP is the perviest fandom I have ever been in - I've never seen so much incest fic! My tolerance is greatly higher than it used to be. Not something I'll seek out.
May/December	I had to look this one up - I thought it was month slash! I prefer Jan/April personally... I guess I don't mind it. I would mention Remus/Hermione here but then I realised that it was a slash meme...
Het pairings in a slash fic	No problem.
Plot	Yay plot! It's nice to have a good plotty fic.
PWPs	Yay no plot!
WIPs	I try not to read them until they're done but sometimes I can't help it.
LJ fics and communities	Fabulous.
Mailing lists	There's never anything posted to the groups I'm in nowadays.
Big Name Fans	Depends whether they're famous for being wanky or not! I've got a few on my flist and they're on the whole pretty nice people. And write and rec good fic.
Politics in a slash story	If the story calls for it.
Religion in a slash story	If the story calls for it. Although I might find it a little hard to swallow if Andrew finds Jesus.
Wake up Gay	Can create some fun fics.

Your pet peeve:	Spelling the same word wrong repeatedly. Turning males into whiny girls that happen to have a penis. Equating bottoming with being submissive.
Your advice to new slashers:	Find a good abbreviation guide. Then you'll know why to avoid mpregs.
Your slash wish list:	At the moment? Some first time Sirius/Remus in the dorm room. That scenario never gets old to me. The next part of shoebox (when it arrives!) to be explicit S/R smut. I know that would alienate half the readers but I would die. DIE! Also, some Andrew/Warren wouldn't go amiss. I miss my nerds.
The best slash archive:	God knows. I tend to avoid archives. Unless fics on archives are recced to me.
The worst slash arcive:	FF.net. I respect my brain far too much to subject it to that.
