'Ship Meme

Off various people on my f-list:
Off the top of your head, right now, what ten 'ships would you likely drop what you're doing to read fic for. Or, alternately, what are the top ten ships that you'll give a fic a chance for, or that you've been dying to write, or that you've been dying to read... These can be new loves, old flames, or something in between. Explain if you like, but you don't have to. Then tell us three things these ships say about you. Leave a comment about what you think these ships say about me, then repeat in your own LJ.

  1. Sirius/Remus

  2. Warren/Andrew

  3. Dom/Billy

  4. Sheppard/McKay

  5. Jack/Daniel

  6. John/Aeryn

  7. Clark/Lex

  8. Hermione/Remus

  9. Warren/Tucker

  10. James/Lily

Wow, three whole het pairings!*

Three things these ships say about me:

  • I like the friends turned lovers scenario. No, in fact I love that scenario which is probably why Harry/Draco doesn't float my boat at all. I've tried but I just don't get it.

  • I found this surprisingly difficult to do - I'm very choosy when it comes to my 'ships and what I'll read. I really had to think hard to get past five or six. I'm pretty monogamous.

  • I was going to say that I like canon pairings but erm, there's only two of them on there. Though Clark/Lex is practically canon. Remind me, how many eye-fucks do you need for it to be canon?

There's some pretty conspicuous fandoms missing from this list, mainly Firefly and Lost. I love both shows but I don't have any strong shipping preferences and to me Lost is all about the plot (although Sawyer/Sayid is pretty damn hot). And as far as Firefly is concerned, Kaylee and Simon are cute and I can see lots of femslash potential but nothing really grips me.

John/Aeryn is my Farscape OTP and I can't really see any strong m/m slash pairings in that show. Apart from the obvious and delightfully twisted Scorpy/Braca. Come on - collars and leads? How can you resist? And then there was Rygel in the bondage gear slapping arses, but I'm not sure if you can count a puppet (in an episode that takes place in John's head) - actually, this is Farscape, of course you can. Oh, and there was great fun to be had in the body-switching episode. And also some interesting potentials with the two Johns. But mostly I see John and Aeryn. And the high femslash potential.

*Hermione/Remus is quite clearly cracktastic but it's my list and I'll put it on there if I want to!
