AAAAAARRRRRGH.

DAMMIT!!! I was in the middle of working on a new layout and now LJ has gone strange and the flexible squares layout has disappeared! GAH. So annoyed.

The [livejournal.com profile] s2flexisquares comm is really helpful, especially because it pointed me to this very useful gizmo for Mozilla Firefox: the web developer extension. If you install it and choose Edit CSS, you can make changes to the stylesheet on any page you want and immediately see the effects that it has. If you're doing an LJ layout you can just copy and paste the stylesheet into your theme layer! It also has a handy 'Display ID & Class Details' thingy so you can see what everything on the stylesheet refers to (very handy if you're coding impaired like me...). Another Firefox extension I discovered is ColorZilla - you can get a colour reading from any point in your browser which is also very handy for layouts. Or WOULD BE IF I COULD WORK ON IT.

I've been off work the last couple of days. I didn't think it was very fair on everybody else if I went into work like that. It wasn't pretty. I'll be back in tomorrow though as I almost feel normal again even if a little wheezy and snotty...

C&C'd from a post [Unknown site tag] made on the subject:

FYI RE: YER LAYOUTS:

The directory search is again functional. S2 users may see their style revert to Generator, we are aware of the issue and working on it.
-as per this post on [livejournal.com profile] status.

Seriously, if you would have [livejournal.com profile] status, [livejournal.com profile] news and [livejournal.com profile] lj_maintenance and/or [livejournal.com profile] lj_support friended, there would be no more less panicking when things go wonky.

I'm sure that's more than you needed, if it's even helpful, but I try! *g*

Thanks! I saw the post on one of my comms - but I was still annoyed because I lost some work! It seems to be fixed now. *prods*
