Save the world, make it a better place...
From the BBC news website:
...Children in a nursery were shocked when they spotted a three-headed frog hopping in their garden...
...The creature - which has six legs - has stunned BBC wildlife experts who warned it could be an early warning of environmental problems...
...All the creature's eyes and legs appear to function normally, but it is not known whether it eats using all three of its mouths...

Although the frog is comedy, what it stands for makes me worry. I do try to be environmentally friendly. I don't drive, I try and save on electricity, I recycle, I don't eat fish caught from wild stocks. But at the end of the day what difference does it make?
It frightens and saddens me that in 50 years time we'll probably have irrepairably damaged the ecosystem. The rate of loss of species is enormous. Every day more and more genetic diversity is lost that we can never get back. I never can understand how people don't care. People are willing to worry about the extinction of the flagship species like the panda and the whale, but every insect species or fish that goes extinct because of us is still as great a loss. Rah. I'm not a vegetarian, I enjoy eating meat. But for the last few years I haven't eaten cod. The stocks in the North Sea have been crashing drastically over the last decade or so and from the looks of things they're just going to be fished into oblivion. How can we be so stupid?
I'm far from what people would class as a greenpeace type person. I don't have a problem with GM, afterall, we've been doing it for millennia. I don't think all animal testing should be banned. I don't think fox hunting should be banned. Stem cell research should be encouraged. I do however think stupidity, deliberate and malicious cruelty and ignorance should be banned. Humans are so short sighted and narrow minded.
The three headed frog is still hilarious though.

anniesj. How can an NC-17 fic which is based on the comment Dom made about taking viagra with a friend and the friends girlfriend, be so wonderfully, stomach churningly angsty?
