Collectormania 6
So. Collectormania. It was in Milton Keynes which is a very, very boring place - I was going to say dire but that sounds too interesting. The place is a giant carpark surrounded by un-picturesque tree lined boulevards. And the shopping centre which purports to be one of the biggest covered shopping centres in Europe is a pile of shite. Anyway, moaning mostly over with. At this point I'm going to link to
emony's report and
vanilla_tiger's report because I can't remember the order of events and I'm lazy.
Friday: I met
niannah and
emony in the hotel and after an hour or so we were joined by
vanilla_tiger. Wandered around MK for a bit. Got food. Watched Wimbeldon at the pictures - entirely forgettable, but not as bad as it could have been.
Saturday: We made sure we were up really early so we could wait outside until the shopping centre opened. Actually... no, sorry - that was an alternate universe. We actually got up about 10:45 and got bagels for brunch (actually, I think midday counts as lunch) and then trekked the thousand miles through the shopping centre to the con place.
I got Adam Busch's ( so beardy and lovely!) and Danny Strong's (so cute and wee!) autographs. Then I had to get Brent Spiners autograph because it's DATA! I MET DATA! Possibly the most exciting thing EVA! At some point we met up with
seshat1. Yay! Fellow shoeboxer! Me and Anna waited around for A-Team autographs - I got Dwight Shultz's (he's very lovely). We cruised past Billy Boyd (he was on the phone). Then I had to get Marina Sirtis's autograph because she's so lovely. Deanna!
That evening we partied with the stars! Or possibly not. Sala Baker brushed by me and apparently a Phelps twin and Danny Strong were spotted. Common Rotation played and they were fab! Jordan Katz was amazing on that trumpet!
Sunday: Anna's birthday! Me, VT and Anna headed over to the centre for the talks and to see if there was any chance of seeing Billy Boyd. First was the Buffy talk. The Trio were on first and were generally entertaining. I did want to slap the people who kept asking about robot girlfriends. Then Nick Brendon was on for half an hour. Me and Anna managed to get into the very end of the Billy queue (very lucky - we'd missed our numbers being called!). He was very delicate and lovely and Scottish.
Then the LOTR talk which was fab apart from some of the excruciating questions that got asked. The most entertaining bit was Billy's charity auction - t-shirts and signed pictures were going for a few hundred but a Japanese sake box that Dom, Elijah and Billy had drunk out of and signed went for over a thousand pounds!!!!! WTF?! (Some pics I came across from someone on LJ that was at the con). Some of VT's uni friends had come for the LOTR talk so we had dinner with them. VT went home, and me and Anna joined Emony back at the hotel. Because of a mix up, I ended up in a posh room by myself and we all got a discount!
Monday: Me and Anna went down to London and cruelly abandoned Emony in the barrenness of MK until she could get her coach a few hours later. Meanwhile in London, me and Anna located the hotel - so many frills!!! We had lots of food and some cocktails, had a shower and headed over to the Troubadour where the Co Ro show was. We got molested by a tramp in a polka dot skirt and sandals. The show was great again and I had a fab time! Scary Spike man who was at Fusion in Blackpool was there. We had lots more cocktails and I was a little ahem...ill in the night. Such a lightweight!
Then back home on Tuesday and back to work yesterday. Noooooooo!
And for those of you who didn't click the cut - I met Data! And also Billy Boyd! Yay!
I'm watching Farscape and Pilot just made me cry. He's not a puppet damn it! And now there's a strange cross-dressing alien on.
