"Will you lot fucking shut up about me and Kurt!" Brian bellowed. He pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes. Didn't help. When he took them away, there was still a classroom full of kids gawking at him. Waiting for... something. "I am not shagging Mr. McKenna. Who said I was? Was it Simon?"
There was silence.
"It's just obvious, sir," a speccy girl in the front row said.

(My theory, by the way, is that Kurt inadvertently insulted the kid of a mafia boss in some hugely improbably chain of events that spiralled out of his control. And poor long-suffering Brian got caught up in it because, well, he looooves Kurt and therefore has to go along with all this madness about faking their own deaths...)

I think you may be on to something there. Obviously Kurt couldn't fake his death by himself because he's too much of a wet blanket, so he cajoled Brian into coming with him (and he possibly implied Brian had something to do with it too so that he had no choice).
And they argued over which one of them people would be most upset about.
