Oh god. Smallville spent an entire episode moralising about making sure your 'first time' is special. I think I was sick into my mouth slightly. Why can't I give up that show? It's like crack cocaine.

Say I was to make a rec list, would it be better to split it up by genre or time frame? e.g an angsty Sirius/Remus Hogwarts era fic lumped with a fluffy Hogwarts era fic, or an angsty Hogwarts era fic lumped with angsty post-Azkaban fic? I can't decide which would be best. My gut instinct was to go with chronological but it might be more useful to go by genre. What do you reckon?

I think by genre, but it might be difficult in some cases. Of course, if a fic fits into two categories, it's not that much trouble to list it twice.

Hmmm, it might be difficult to categorise genre, but then, it might be easier to pick a fic to read from it. If I'm feeling depressed I'll want something to cheer me up, not make me want to slit my wrists.
