nettles, the revenge! plus thoughts on janice rand

Today:

- the toilet started to leak (again) and so we are flushing it with buckets of water (joy).

- I had a driving lesson and got onto the main road and did traffic lights! More traffic lights than I ever did when I was learning up in Scotland because there was only one set!

- I nettled myself on one of those evil little nettles and it still hurts now after eight hours and loads of anti-histamine cream. Bastards.

- I watched an old school episode of Star Trek in which evil!Kirk tries to rape Yeoman Rand. Afterwards she tells good!Kirk that she understood and that she wouldn't have told anyone! What?! Perhaps her beehive hairdo affects her brain. In another Rand related observation, in one episode there's an emergency and Kirk tells her to take the helm and off she goes flying the ship. Now, if she can fly a spaceship, why is she just a yeoman who's sole role seems to be making sure that Kirk eats regularly (and heating hot water with a phaser so she can make coffee for him when the galley has no power)?

Those are good questions. I wish I had an answer for you. Unfortunately, my TOS knowledge is severely limited and I do not. Though the phaser trick is neat.

Yay, well done on handling all those traffic lights! How's it going, in general? Well? I was a really nervous driver at first. Still a bit nervous, but that's good, keeps me paying attention!

Buckets and nettles. Neither is good. :(

My TOS knowledge is also limited having not seen most of the episodes. I am currently rectifying that by watching the first series via free DVD by post trials.

It's going really well actually! I do enjoy having driving lessons and I'm getting back into it now. I did have a bit of a stalling incident on a roundabout yesterday but apart from that it was good. I need to think about booking myself a theory test now...

Rubbing with dock leaves works sometimes but these were vicious super stings of hell. Maybe I'll try vinegar next time and if that doesn't work I'll try bathing in hydrogen peroxide! ;)
