I haven't gone to bed yet... I was randomly trawling friendsfriends when I came upon a picture of Dominic Monaghan and a leaf mantis. It reminded me somewhat of a picture of myself.



Here's Dominic Monaghan with his pet leaf mantis Gizmo (borrowed from kiltsandlollies journal).




And here's me looking decidedly less pretty with a random grasshopper that jumped on my specs while I was somewhere in New Zealand earlier this year. Thanks to my friend A for the lovely photography.

*hugs* Sorry for the trauma. In real life people generally have a chance to run away long before they get that close to me.

Meep! I'd be running around screaming "BUG! BUG! WAAAH" if it was crawling on my glasses! Not that I wear glasses, but still. Bugs do not belong on faces.

Heh. It jumped on shoulder first and I was like 'oh look, a large grasshopper on my shoulder'. Then it made it's move onto my glasses. All in all, I think preferred it on my shoulder. Kind of like a parrot but with more legs and antennae and less feathers.

That's a gorgeous mantis in the top picture, btw -- I don't think I've ever seen one quite that color before.
