I thought I'd post some pictures of my week in Scotland (and Berwick upon Tweed). We travelled around a bit: from Lindisfarne (not Scotland!) to the West coast (Arndamurchan), up north where we stayed in a youth hostel that was a castle (we may have spied Nessie on the way past Loch Ness and also Morag in Loch Morar), down to the east where we walked up Lochnagar (the mountain behind Balmoral - I've been up before when I used to live nearby in Banchory) and back down to the Borders and then home. We did a lot of driving - about 1200 miles over the nine days. We saw a pair of Golden Eagles on the west coast which was pretty cool. The weather was (mostly) great and I didn't get too eaten by midges - pretty amazing for a holiday in Scotland!

Isn't it just? There aren't many sparsely inhabited places in Britain any more where the air pollution is low enough for the lichen and moss and it's just amazing when you find somewhere like that.
