Look at my spiffy Brokeback Mountain icon that
niannah made!
So the first two days in my new job went okay. There's so much stuff for me to learn as I have no background in the area whatsoever. I must say it's been quite nice to use my brain again. All the people I've met and spoken to so far seem really friendly and helpful so that's good.
The bad thing is that I haven't gone into work today as when I woke up, I looked in the bathroom mirror and realised that the left side of my face was swelled up, rather like it does when I've taken aspirin. I had to take my inhaler and I've been itchy all over. God knows what I'm allergic to now. I went to the doctors and got some antihistamines but they don't seem to have worked as yet. I guess I'll have to see if it happens again and see what the cause is. I'm just hoping it's not the cats...
I saw this on the news last night:
A Euro MP for the UK Independence Party has sparked controversy hours into his first day in the Strasbourg parliament.
Godfrey Bloom was given a seat on the European Parliament's women's rights committee on Tuesday.
But he told the media: "No self-respecting small businessman with a brain in the right place would ever employ a lady of child-bearing age."
Mr Bloom, an investment fund manager from York, told journalists he wanted to deal with women's issues because: "I just don't think they clean behind the fridge enough".
"I am here to represent Yorkshire women who always have dinner on the table when you get home. I am going to promote men's rights," he added.
I have no words.
I'm just going to take a moment to pimp one of my favourite communities of the moment:
shacking_up. It's a closed Sirius/Remus community where all manner of fabulous fics, fic recs and art are posted.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go to the
shoebox_project and press refresh repeatedly in the vain hope that it will be updated.

I'm very jealous that you get to use your brain at work. I get to use a highlighter, and only that because I'm stretching the bounds of my job description.
I hope you're not allergic to anything too horrid. Or Catlike, which could perhaps be worse.
I too am now waiting for shoebox project. It's quite traumatic, considering I got to read the first nine parts one after the other, and now I have to WAIT and its just not fair...

I know... I'd just have to go around with some kind of space helmet on as there's no way we could get rid of the cats.
There's going to be a riot on LJ if shoebox isn't updated soon!

What is this? A fixation with stationery? I must write stationery!obsessedBilly and Dom. My life is sad.
(I have different shades of pink postits, in a stack. They're fantastic)

If you write stationery!obsessedBilly and Dom then you would have one reader at least. Stationery!pr0n!
(oooh, different shades of pink *wibbles*. Work only has yellow or blue - perhaps I should take in my lovely multi-coloured square ones even though I used all the neon yellow ones of the top)

Also, hope you have fun at work, and feel all better soon. Don't mind me, I'm hyper :D

RAH! MUST HAVE SHOEBOX CRACK.

*has withdrawal symptoms*
Do you know shoebox withdrawal has reduced me to a state of constant capslock? Most amusing. The guy in my office thinks I am on drugs.
no subject
I'm quite upset that withdrawal is manifesting itself as CAPSLOCK ABUSE. I just can't help it.
no subject
CAPSLOCK ABUSE is a SHAMEFUL way to admit the withdrawal, but amusing because you can spot other poor souls aflicted with the same TORMENT.
WANT SHOEBOX! hem. Sorry about this! Might stop spamming and actually do some work soon!

It's a piss-take, surely? Was he very drunk at the time?

Hrm. I'm a little bit evil, I think.

I must admit to laughing at what he said when I heard it on the news last night - mostly out of disbelief. And then the news reader laughed - also a women of childbearing age. Unfortunately I kind of think that he wasn't having a joke when he made the child bearing age comment. Fucktard.
