Lawyers for author JK Rowling are investigating a US army magazine cartoon whose characters bear an uncanny resemblance to Harry Potter.

It's in Preventive Maintenance Monthly, which teaches soldiers how to care for their kit. If this isn't a Harry Potter rip off I don't know what is! At "Mogmart's School" there's a wizard called Topper with a friend called Miss Ranger and teachers called Rumbledore, Snappy and McDonagal.

"...the magazine's editor, Ken Crunk, denied there had been any copyright infringement.

"The drawings do not look like any of the characters from Harry Potter," said Mr Crunk."

Ahahaha! Yeah right. Go and look at the picture!

BWAH! I thought that I was looking at the wrong link, because as soon as that image came on my screen, I thought, "Wow. Look at picture of the trio. It must be there for purposes of comparison." I can't help but think that April's Fools snuck up on me without my noticing or something, because the similarities are so so obvious. Miss Ranger? Rumbledore? That's not even creative.

It's ridiculous isn't it! Did you see the picture of "Snappy" on the picture you can get of a whole page? If that isn't Snape, I'm a monkey's uncle!

they didn't even try to make it look like it wasn't a rip-off. They might as well have had the actors come in and sit for their drawings. I never understand the point of arguing when the evidence is so very very obvious

I read that comic yesterday and it was so boring I couldn't finish it. That's the ONE thing that makes it different from HP. Ha!

That was probably because it was supposed to be teaching soldiers how to take care of their kit! Not the most exciting read in the world I'd imagine! And a bit of a strange choice for Preventative Maintenance Monthly...
