Mordor?

Have I taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in Mordor? I swear I've never seen a stretch this long without sunshine. The cloud cover is so thick that the sun barely even breaks through it when it's rising. The sky was an ominous purple when I was on the way home last night and at the moment it's just a strangely luminous light grey as the sun is setting. Weird. It seems my excitement at seeing the sun in the middle of last week was justified because I haven't seen it again since!
