odycee: (Life On Mars - Stay out of Camberwick!)
So, Galactica 3. What debauchery! Or we've watched eight episodes of Life on Mars in two days. You choose!

It's been great fun. The four guests have been great - three of them were convention virgins so I think the 178 attendees were less intimidating than an event where there are 800 attendees. Alessandro Juliani (sp?) is really very cute.

[livejournal.com profile] emony has been quite disgusted by [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar and I talking constantly about dead animals, poo and severed limbs. I don't see what her problem is really. Who doesn't want to discuss whether Immortals limbs can reattach if they're out of the line of sight? I think we also talked about squeegeeing people off ceilings. Not sure in connection with what now. I'm sure it was very interesting though.
odycee: (Doctor Who - Ten)
I seem to have been running around like a headless chicken for the last week - I didn't get to watch the new Doctor Who until Monday!!!!1!1

I was in Germany for a meeting on Monday evening and Tuesday (and the only freak weather this time was sun! It was beautiful!) so missed two days there and spent Sunday driving to Oxford and back to see my brother and his girlfriend's flat (very posh). I drove there and back without doing a motorway which is probably why the journey took three hours instead of one and three-quarters! I did do some very large dual-carriage ways though and once got up to a nose-bleeding speed of 78mph!! My car is now covered in dead insects so not only am I contributing to global warming (although I'm enjoying this freakish weather at the moment! ;)) through my exhaust emissions, I'm now also responsible for squishing many flies. Woe.

[livejournal.com profile] niannah - nag me tomorrow to book the hotel for G3. I got the number this afternoon but then didn't have time to do it.

ETA: Communications Course: How to respond to rude emails in your personal or professional life. Heh. It amused me!

Also, Beatbox Cooking - this is bizarre and funny!:

good news

Why didn't I see a plethora of rude and offensive Valentine's Day pictures on my f-list? You're all sacked.

I had a good Valentine's Day evening. We laid in bed and watched the Big Lebowski, The Mighty Boosh and Phoenix Nights. Very chilled.

I forgot to mention last week (how could I forget!) that [livejournal.com profile] niannah and I have booked tickets for Galactica 3 in August - a BSG convention. Hurrah! Though I wish they hadn't taken the money quite so soon out of my bank account...

And talking of Battlestar - it's been renewed for a fourth season of at least 13 episodes - thanks to [livejournal.com profile] emony for the link! It's not coming back until January 2008 though. How can we be expected to wait that long?!

ETA: The cat has just thrown up on my duvet. And not just a bit - it looks like everything he ate for the last week. Lovely.
odycee: (Random - pencil crayons)
Aaaargh. Why am I so disorganised?! I'm knackered and I've got to finish packing for my trip to Rotterdam tonight as I'm going straight down to my friend's house in London after work tomorrow to get the flight on Friday morning. It's too hot and I can't be bothered. I just need to make sure I've got my passport in my bag and I'll be fine...

How did I not already have a tag for moaning?!

Oh, and I've still got two invites left for Vox if any one is interested. Comment with your email address and they're yours.

ETA: Ew. I was just wrapping up my friend's birthday present at the dining table when I noticed that there was a large yellow slug sitting looking at me from the table top. Where the fuck has that come from?! It soon found itself back outside.

lovely

Text messages from my mum this afternoon (following on from the 'accident' one of the cats had this weekend in the living room):

Mum: Guess where a cat has done a poo today.
Me: I dread to think. On the settee?
Mum: In your dad's trousers which were just dropped on the floor. Looked very suspect so hope the window cleaner didn't come today...

Needless to say, I sat at my desk (my new horrible desk that faces away from the window) at work pissing myself with laughter.

samba!

SQUEEEEEE! David Tennant continues to be fabulous! And very hot (in that weasely kind of way). Good start to the new series!

I'm looking after one of my friends guinea pigs at the moment because we have a lawn full of out of control grass in the garden, and she has none because she's just had the lawn re-turfed. This is fine, but I just had to throw my jumper in the washer because omg. Guinea pig poo stinks. It's very cute though!

ETA: I've just looked at my f-list and I've totally ripped off the title of this post from [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar. That was obviously a bit of the episode that sticks in the brain!
odycee: (Atlantis - Shep/McKay - signal of gay)
Aaaargh. There's a massive bluebottle in my room and I can't get it. Where's it come from? It needs to go away to somewhere else and stop thudding its fat body on every surface in my room.

In other news, this week, I have mostly been mainlining Atlantis fic. It's been good.

It's got cold enough this week to put the horses in overnight for the winter. My hands are rough already! They're both bedded down on wood shavings instead of straw this year to try and control Kaz's cough. I'm not entirely sure how to muck out a shavings bed so this morning was spent picking up small pieces of poo with rubber gloves wondering how on earth you're supposed to do it without taking 23949028 hours. Hmmm. I think we need to get a shavings fork.

I rode Kaz yesterday and she was dripping with sweat by the time we got back. I daren't get on Oscar - I'm frightened that his riding days have come to an end. He's pretty much lame all the time now and he looks like such an old man. Maybe I'll try and get on him the weekend after the con (OMG next weekend!)

I found a huge spider in the hay barn yesterday. It was almost as big as my palm with its legs outstretched. Not that I picked it up with my hands - I just coaxed it on to a pair of scissors to try and take a photo that didn't come out.

When we got home from the field this afternoon there was dog sick everywhere. I'm not sure why but it was the most unpleasant sick I've ever had the misfortune to come across. Nice. And now I'm going to go and watch Nip/Tuck before I traumatise you any further.
