The hose on my shower broke at the beginning of last week (I was descaling the head as Hull has water that's so hard that it almost comes out of the tap in lumps) so I got a new one. Unfortunately, the new one wasn't good enough and water sprayed out of it at the join, so I got another, more expensive one yesterday that should be ok. However, due to the fact that I'm rubbish, I can't unscrew the one I attached last week! I've just been in the bath with my trousers rolled up brandishing a pair of pliers (no good), a monkey wrench (not big enough), a hammer (too frightened I'll wreck the shower), a towel, and my ineffectual bare hands. I'm going to have to try and recruit a strong person at work tomorrow and see if they can shift it. BUM.

I've been struggling to keep up with LJ and email in general since the new systems at work banned access to internet email and LJ - not that I used it a lot but it was nice to have five minutes at lunch time to catch up. And now it's going to be even harder because last night MY LAPTOP DIED. OMG. The hard drive is fucked and I've no idea why. The boyfriend is going to have a look at it but to be honest I think there's nothing I can do apart from buying a new hard drive or laptop. FUCK. This has not been a good week!

On the plus side, I just watched Torchwood and I loved it. I can't be bothered to write anything more in depth than that really!

ETA: And yes, the verdict of Thursday's announcement at work is that our jobs are moving to Hull by next September so I've got to decide what I'm going to do.

Oh, and I hadn't got around to watching this week's Lost, BSG or Supernatural before the laptop died. Bollocks.

ETA2: Brief Torchwood spoilers )

It is now 20 to 7 and i'm still not home from work (I'm posting from my phone). I left work at 5 and it took AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES TO GET INTO TOWN. It normally takes 25. Now I'm on the bus home. If I'm lucky, this 1 hour journey will only take twice that. The worst thing is that i don't even know why the traffic is this bad. Actually the worst thing is that I forgot to set spn to download...

ntl hell

Why are NTL so shit? Why? I've got an engineer coming out on Saturday to look at my modem so we'll see what happens (if they actually bother to turn up). I'm not expecting any miracles though.

ETA: I've just looked back through my LJ to see when these problems started - the 25th February. That's just ridiculous.
odycee: (Doctor Who - Dalek - exterminate!)
Good things about this weekend:

- fabulous weather (even if it does mean that the house is sweltering hot by midday),
- watching loads more Supernatural (which I have to say I'm enjoying immensely and I may possibly have been reading some RPS),
- getting my holiday to Iceland sorted (very excited! we're going at the end of July),
- Doctor Who,
- managing to completely hide from anything to do with the World Cup (apart from that bloke sitting/lying on the wall at the bottom of the road throwing up (what appeared to be just beer) all over the pavement yesterday afternoon - come on England!).

Bad things about this weekend:

- getting to the field at half past eight yesterday morning to find that SOME FUCKER HAS BROKEN IN AND NICKED A LOAD OF STUFF. Just brilliant. Just exactly what we need at the moment.

cut for long winded moaning )
odycee: (Atlantis - Ronon - pissed off)
Seriously? This knackered internet thing sucks donkey balls. I hate NTL and they apparently hate me.

I just ate too much chocolate torte. This can't be good.
odycee: (Random - dinosaurs - rah!)
Apparently Gary Oldman is now set to play Sirius. \o/ Thank goodness for that! I hope it's actually true.

My internet is still fucked up. I'll try speaking to ntl again at the end of the week because apparently there's 'maintenance work' in the area this week and hopefully that will mend the problem that no one admits exists. I think their version of maintenance work is playing Solitaire while sitting at home having a cup of tea. Cretins.

Bill has just walked all over my laptop. I think that's my signal for bed.
odycee: (Atlantis - Sheppard - Fuck that)
Aaaaargh! Snow and freezing and an internet connection that is almost totally broken now and a help line that can't help until after 8 tonight because they're having a 'systems upgrade' make me very pissed off.

ETA: w00t! It posted!
ETA2: Am currently sneaking onto next door's wireless network. Ha. Their unsecured network is practically an *invitation* for me to do it.
odycee: (Random - paperclips)
I knew that today was going to be shitty first thing this morning. As I walked up the steps into the building where I work I stood on the front of my skirt (it's very long) and tore the hem. I spent the entire day with two black paperclips holding the hem together at the front. D'oh.

Stupid co-worker left today. She's a lovely person so I was sad to see her go. But I also wasn't sad to see her go because now I won't ever have to get annoyed again when she still doesn't take in what I say to her after I've said it three times.

There was unbelievable shit at work last week which has made me wonder whether I want to work for this company. This whole process of being bought by this large company which I won't name, has been so much worse than anyone thought it would be. So much worse. Someone who had survived the redundancies actually resigned on Monday because of everything that's been going on.

Also, the bank sucks and so does my internet.

But! Doctor Who back on in April. Yayness.

Rah.

I'm in one of those moods where every single member of the human race is irritating me beyond belief. Especially the stupid ones. Having your company bought by another one sucks. Someone burning down your hay barn sucks.

Perhaps I should follow [livejournal.com profile] lykaios and compile a happy list.

FUCK

Well I've had a decidedly unfun Saturday night. The horses are all ok, but some FUCKER has burned our hay barn and the two caravans to the ground. I was in a total state of panic at half past seven as I got a phone call (while we were eating our dinner) from the farmer at the bottom of our field who said 'your stables are on fire'. Jesus fucking christ. I was imagining all sorts of horrible things because of course, Oscar, Kaz and the new horse Troy are in the stables over night. Luckily it wasn't the actual stable block (we didn't know that until we got there though) but the barn and the caravans that we use for feeding the cats in (and god knows where they are now) and making cups of tea in. I checked the fire brigade had been called and we rushed straight down. What a long 10 minute journey that was. Because it's on the top of a hill we could see the flames and the blue lights from about a mile away. Luckily Troy's owner lives closer and she got there before us and let Oscar and Kaz out into the field before they started trying to put out the fires. There were three fire engines and a million people standing watching - I'm not surprised as there were plenty of impressive flames.

Whoever has done it must have been waiting for Troy's owner to go home because she only left there at quarter to seven and we got the phone call at 25 past. They had let Troy out of his stable but either hadn't seen Oscar and Kaz or didn't give a fuck. What a pointless thing to do. All they've stolen is one of the electric fence boxes (and I hope that they got a good shock off the fence before they realised it was electric!). They've taken some of the haynets - it must have been to start the fires with. We were so lucky that the fire engines got there when they did because the fire was spreading rapidly - the owner of the field has an overgrown compound at the back of the hay barn that's full of junk. The bracken and broom set alight and was heading for the stable block. We were also lucky that the fire didn't reach the gas bottle in one of the caravans. The people who live next to the field were using hose pipes on the caravans from over the fence before the fire engines got there - that must have slowed it down a bit.

Now there's an unholy mess we've got to somehow clear up - I think I'll have to take some holiday next week to help get it sorted. We've lost about 40 bales of hay and have nowhere to store the rest of the hay that the farmer is keeping for us. At least we've still got a load left in his barns though. How are going to get a new barn? Oh, and Oscar is out in the field in his stable rug as I couldn't catch him to put his waterproof rug on. I just hope it doesn't rain tonight.

At least the horses are okay and we've got rid of all the random old crap that the owner had stashed in the back of the barn! Although I'll admit it's a bit of a drastic way to get rid of it! ;) Oh - and I got the letter this morning to tell me that my contract has been extended until the end of December. At least I'm not going to be unemployed in the near future!

ETA: Oh man, I love this mood theme! Heh.
odycee: (HP - Sirius - you are not what you seem)
From [livejournal.com profile] grrliz via GaryOldman.info: Gary Oldman's manager says they don't know yet if Gary will be in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

"You will be shocked and surprised to learn that at this time there are no plans for Gary to appear in the next Harry Potter film. To say we are puzzled on this side about this is an understatement at the every least! You may feel free to post this info. If the situation changes, I will let you know. There would be no objection from me if fans wrote letters to Warners about this!"

How can he not be in it?! WTF with a capital W! Oh wait, it's already a capital. with a 98789798pt size W!! He'd better bloody well be in it!

I forgot to set Lost to download this morning before I went to work. RAGE.

Oh for fucks sake. My brother has been at home for less than a week and he's already infested my old PC downstairs with a phenomenal amount of spyware. I've not been able to get the virus checker to work on it since I bought it and I'm about ready to drop the whole lot on the floor. And now the effing thing won't even start up properly. I love my laptop. May it never leave me.
