the rift

odycee: (Torchwood - Gwen)
This weekend was the Rift, the mini Torchwood con, where I had a fabulous time with lots of lovely people - in alphabetical order: [livejournal.com profile] emony, [livejournal.com profile] flatlanddan, [livejournal.com profile] lonelybrit, [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar, [livejournal.com profile] niannah, [livejournal.com profile] randommagic and [livejournal.com profile] rivier. Needless to say, as usual, I am plague ridden as I always am after conventions. Snotty and miserable, which made this Monday even more special that it usually is.

Gareth David Lloyd - even cuter in the flesh than on the screen, very quick and very witty. Eve Myles - very very very lovely. She was so lovely that I paid extra to get her autograph. Kai Owen - cute and funny and allegedly a fabulous singer (but I missed all that bit so I just have to take everyone's word for it! D:). James Marsters - erm... not the most inspiring guest I've ever seen but it if I put my Buffy hat on, it was pretty cool to see him. But I did think that [livejournal.com profile] niannah, [livejournal.com profile] emony and I were going to get stabbed outside by rabid Marsters fangirls after we took the piss all the way through his talk.

Great fun, and I highly recommend the plan of commencing drinking at half past twelve in the afternoon and staying pissed for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Hurrah!
odycee: (Random - omg squee!)
I got back from G3 about three-quarters of an hour ago. I'm quite tired now after the drive up the motorway and the fact I didn't go to bed until half past three last night. I had a great time. When's the next one?! ;)

Now I want to sit and watch many episodes of BSG. In reality I'm going to hang the washing out, go and feed the horses (and I've got to scoop some poo, [livejournal.com profile] emony ;)) and then finish bubblewrapping some glasses and plates for the trip to Hull tomorrow.
odycee: (Life On Mars - Stay out of Camberwick!)
So, Galactica 3. What debauchery! Or we've watched eight episodes of Life on Mars in two days. You choose!

It's been great fun. The four guests have been great - three of them were convention virgins so I think the 178 attendees were less intimidating than an event where there are 800 attendees. Alessandro Juliani (sp?) is really very cute.

[livejournal.com profile] emony has been quite disgusted by [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar and I talking constantly about dead animals, poo and severed limbs. I don't see what her problem is really. Who doesn't want to discuss whether Immortals limbs can reattach if they're out of the line of sight? I think we also talked about squeegeeing people off ceilings. Not sure in connection with what now. I'm sure it was very interesting though.
odycee: (BSG - Six - hair)
I don't seem to have posted in August yet. I've been about, reading and sometimes commenting, but fandom seems to have lost its squee at the moment. People are either bitching about LJ or bitching about people bitching about LJ. I'm not leaving LJ at any point in the near future (although I do have a GJ, JF, IJ and Vox account under this name) because I like it here, I like all my friends here and my activities and the things I enjoy haven't been affected too badly. I'm not going to weigh in on the whole debacle because I think enough people have already. I will say that I think LJ has handled it all very badly (again. Was there no learning curve the first time round?) in terms of both inconsistency and communication.

I'm beginning to feel a bit stressed now by the whole move thing. I'm still excited about it all, but there's so much to organise! Even sorting out the removal van seems to be taking forever (and OMG - how expensive?! Luckily my company is paying for it!). I'm finding it so hard to motivate myself at work too. I've got so much work to do for the end of the month and I've got quite a lot of days off between now and then and I still can't give myself enough of a kick up the backside to get it done.

I'm off to the Thistle Hotel at Heathrow tomorrow for Galactica 3 where [livejournal.com profile] emony and [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar will both be too! [livejournal.com profile] niannah, we'll miss you. :( I'm a bit sad that Aaron Douglas and Michael Trucco won't be there but I'm quite excited that Alessandro Juliani (Gaeta) is going to be there, and of course, Callum Keith Rennie. I'm just watching the last few episodes of season three again. I can't wait for season four to start!

good news

odycee: (BSG - Gaius Baltar doesn't like you)
Why didn't I see a plethora of rude and offensive Valentine's Day pictures on my f-list? You're all sacked.

I had a good Valentine's Day evening. We laid in bed and watched the Big Lebowski, The Mighty Boosh and Phoenix Nights. Very chilled.

I forgot to mention last week (how could I forget!) that [livejournal.com profile] niannah and I have booked tickets for Galactica 3 in August - a BSG convention. Hurrah! Though I wish they hadn't taken the money quite so soon out of my bank account...

And talking of Battlestar - it's been renewed for a fourth season of at least 13 episodes - thanks to [livejournal.com profile] emony for the link! It's not coming back until January 2008 though. How can we be expected to wait that long?!

ETA: The cat has just thrown up on my duvet. And not just a bit - it looks like everything he ate for the last week. Lovely.
odycee: (Atlantis - Sheppard - pointy ears!)
Was BSG on this week? I'm guessing not as I can't find it anywhere. I'm currently in the middle of getting SGA, Supernatural and Heroes. I didn't realise that this was the last SGA of the season. :( Very sad.

I still haven't come down with the Nerd Flu after the con so I think I've escaped it this time. Hurrah! I gave the boyfriend a picture of the Chief that I got signed for him by Aaron Douglas last night. He laughed his head off as intended but he was actually quite chuffed with it despite the fact that he pretends not to be a geek. Heh.

Edited: because Erin Chambers and Aaron Douglas really aren't the same person!
odycee: (Heroes - Peter with painting)
Peg2 people - what are you taking to wear to the 'cocktail party'? The very sound of it sends panic into my jean clad legs...

The cat has just got in my suitcase (how super-prepared am I - I'm not still trying to find the suitcase half an hour before leaving the house!). I wasn't planning to take him with me but I guess I'll be ready for anything now. Apart from the fact I can't find the plastic wallets to put photos in. And I need to find some camera batteries.

Heroes continues to be fabulous and so was SGA this week. Yayness.
odycee: (Atlantis - Shep/McKay - whales made us)
Spoilers for SGA 3x18 or 3x14 or whatever the hell the number is - 'Sunday' )

I'm almost all caught up with my TV now. I've got two episodes of Lost to watch, two BSG, the latest SGA and the latest Heroes (which I'm really enjoying by the way!).

David Nykl has been confirmed as an extra guest at Peg 2! Hurrah! That's made me pretty happy! I can't believe it's only a week and a half away actually. It's nearly a year since we booked the tickets!

ETA: There was actually snow on the ground this morning! I think it must be winter finally!

Yay!

odycee: (Atlantis - Sheppard - b&w)
[livejournal.com profile] niannah, [livejournal.com profile] gambits_rogue, [livejournal.com profile] ispahan and I have tickets for the Pegasus 2 Atlantis con! Hurrah! Only another twelve months to go... Bugger.

I might find out about my contract tomorrow. If I don't hear tomorrow, then apparently I'll hear next week. Aaargh. I just want to know.

Serenity2

I got back from Serenity2 about an hour or so ago. What a fab weekend! I did lots of laughing. I was very glad when Jonathan Woodward turned out to be one of the surprise guests. The previous two statements may be related in some way...

I am very tired now. And I also need to see Goblet of Fire. I think I'll go tomorrow as I have the day off work. Hurrah!

Aaaargh. It's so cold.
odycee: (Firefly - Kaylee - parasol)
So, the weekend. Definitely the best convention yet (out of the three I've been to!)! I met up with [livejournal.com profile] niannah, [livejournal.com profile] emony, [livejournal.com profile] maryavatar and [livejournal.com profile] naughtyelf. Checking into the hotel on Friday was rather farcical - we had to wait about four hours and then they'd still messed up our rooms! Me and Niannah ended up having to share a double bed. On Saturday morning we had to queue for forty minutes for breakfast! Rubbish. There were so many different queues over the weekend that I decided that I should become a queue spotter and possibly write a book called Queues I Have Seen.

The guests were all amazing. Nathan Fillion was as fabulous as he was last year. Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk were all confirmed beforehand. Ron Glass and Mark Sheppard (Badger) came to fill in for Adam Baldwin who cancelled a week before because of filming. And the final guest was Chris Buchanan who was the producer of Serenity - he had a lot of interesting stuff to say, none of which I can remember I'm sure! random con ramblings )

Anyway, it was very very cool and I just can't wait for the film to come out (first week of October for us UK folk). I think we'll definitely be heading to Serenity Squared in November!

Boris Johnson is crazy. <3

Fabulous weekend! I got in about 15 minutes ago and all I've managed to do so far is eat five (5) jaffa cakes that were in my bag, realise that my f-list (on the filter for just people) is on skip=140 and read some emails. Now I'm going to get changed and go and feed the horses. So very tired. But yay! So much Firefly love!
odycee: (Default)
Oh god! I'm late! Back on Monday then!
odycee: (Default)
Well, still ill. I feel worse if that is in fact possible. Does eating jaffa cakes count as eating oranges? I was also glad to find out that even if Vicks has a best before date of 1994, it doesn't eat your skin away. Which is good. Have spent the last few days watching DS9 whilst in bed.

I was going to write more about Fusion, but seeing as I feel like something the cat vomited up I'll link you to Lucy's report here as that's mainly what I got up to! Met [livejournal.com profile] jenoofer on the platform at the station, made our way to the hotel on the tram and tried to avoid scary Spike man on the tram who was that in character he even stunk of beer. Lovely. more random con thoughts )

Well, that wasn't so short was it. That's probably because I never shut up as anyone who met me last weekend can testify!

I totally rule with avoiding spoilers for the Angel that's just aired in the US. Go me! And I'm off for a rendez-vous with my bed, Doctor Bashir and some tissues.

Tissues for my nose! You people are disgusting.
odycee: (Default)
I always knew Blackpool was a place of evil and now I have the cold to prove it. I feel like death at the moment. I had to come home from work early and damn it! I need that money to make up for the billions of pounds I spent at Fusion! I've just been asleep for the last few hours and I'm going to go back to bed with many tissues and fifty glasses of water. Bollocks.
odycee: (Default)
Got back from Fusion a few hours ago and have just got in after going to the field (and yes, Oscar is still lame). I feel kind of floaty. Possibly due to lack of food and sleep. Those painkillers I took on the train really did the trick. Damn hangover.

I had a fantastic time. Got lots of photos and autographs and spent about £4687324468. I daren't look at my bank account now. Tom's hair was actually okay! He was very quiet and I think quite hungover for most of the weekend - I've not seen eyes as red as that for a while! All the Firefly guys were lovely. I <3 Nathan Fillion. He's lovely. Even though I think he thought I was mildly retarded. Some people, mentioning no names *cough*[livejournal.com profile] niannah *cough* might even say he was squishy.

I met up with some fantastic people and had a great time. Much more to write but am. so. tired. Now I excuse me while I go and collapse in a heap somewhere.

ETA: Link to Big Damn Zombies, Sir before I forget. Hilarious.
