I went to see The Order of the Phoenix last night. spoilery bits )
odycee: (HP - S/R - Maurauders Map)
Have not yet seen Order of the Phoenix. I'm going tomorrow. I feel like such a bad fangirl! I've been reading all the spoilers though as I figure I can't be spoiled for something I already know the story for!

I had my hair chopped off right to my shoulders on Tuesday. Seeing as it was almost down to the base of my spine it was quite a lot of hair to go. My head feels so much lighter now and I no longer strangle myself with it in bed when I roll over, which is nice. I'm looking forward to the smaller hairballs on the carpet too. It looks so much better - it was a right mess before! Now I'm just sad that I can't straighten it as well as the hairdresser as it doesn't look as good now I've washed it. Perhaps I ought to think about investing in some GHDs...

[livejournal.com profile] mellafe has posted a load of pictures from the Order of the Phoenix premiere. Guess who was there! David Tennant (in velvet suit) and John Simm! Oh, and a load of Harry Potter actors. ;) No Gary Oldman or David Thewlis though!

Not long until the film is out now! 12th of July! I'm quite excited now.

OK. So I might be a little excited about the OoTP film this summer now I've seen the trailer - thestrals, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Umbridge, Voldemort (in a hot suit) and more importantly - SIRIUS AND REMUS. This is making me want to go and read lots of Sirius/Remus fic.

Here's the trailer in case there's anyone who hasn't seen it.

And nicked from [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon:

A picture from the trailer. May contain Remus. OMFG )

And we all know which scene that's from. I think this film is going to make me cry just a little bit.

I am still of the sick but now I have antibiotics with which to fight the invaders.

I'm not doing well with keeping up with the f-list this week because I can't concentrate for long enoughl. But through my quick skimming, I've ascertained that they've cast all the young Marauders now. Are there pictures? Who are they? Do we know if Sirius is ugly enough to cause gnashing of teeth throughout fandom?!
odycee: (Random - dinosaurs - rah!)
Apparently Gary Oldman is now set to play Sirius. \o/ Thank goodness for that! I hope it's actually true.

My internet is still fucked up. I'll try speaking to ntl again at the end of the week because apparently there's 'maintenance work' in the area this week and hopefully that will mend the problem that no one admits exists. I think their version of maintenance work is playing Solitaire while sitting at home having a cup of tea. Cretins.

Bill has just walked all over my laptop. I think that's my signal for bed.

I've been watching the discussion on this post about quality vs. popularity in fic and there's some discussion about reccing in there. Some people are saying that reccers aren't reccing new authors enough and moaning that the same people and the same fics are recced over and over again. Now, that may indeed be true, but at the end of the day, people can only recommend what they actually read and most folk don't have the time (or sanity to spare) to read everything on comms like [livejournal.com profile] remusxsirius or [livejournal.com profile] mckay_sheppard to pick out the gems from the eye-bleedingly bad crap, so of course you're going to get the snowball effect - the more people rec it, the more people read it. I pretty much do all my reading from recs (omg, I love my del.icio.us inbox so much).

Most people (myself included) who make recs, rec what they enjoy reading and it's as simple as that - if it's by an obscure author and I enjoy it, I'll rec it. If I enjoy something that ninety million other people have recced, I'll still rec it because I enjoyed it. There's no agenda behind it and it's so, so subjective. Not everyone enjoys the same stuff, and people have wildly differing tastes, but that's life.

I'm sure that I had a point somewhere in there but I think the dog must have eaten it.

Talking of dogs - and that's hot animagus wizards called Padfoot, as opposed to mangy ones that eat my points (smooth segue, Cee, smooth) - Gary Oldman still hasn't been cast as Sirius in OoTP. People! WTF?! Via [livejournal.com profile] grrliz from here:

Douglas Urbanski, of the Douglas Management Group, has told Dissendium that unless an offer is made by next week, Gary Oldman will not be reprising his role as Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A deadline has been put in place for early next week, Mr. Urbanski told Dissendium. He said that the desire on Warner Brother's part has been low since the beginning, even though the money Oldman wants to reprise his role is little. He added that it is unfair for Oldman to wait, as other films have assumed he is a part of the next Potter film, and, like the rest of us, he needs work for the summer.

As of this moment, Gary Oldman is not a part of Order of the Phoenix, has never been, and unless anything changes next week, will not be a part of this.

o_0 is all I have to say to that.
odycee: (HP - Sirius - you are not what you seem)
From [livejournal.com profile] grrliz via GaryOldman.info: Gary Oldman's manager says they don't know yet if Gary will be in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

"You will be shocked and surprised to learn that at this time there are no plans for Gary to appear in the next Harry Potter film. To say we are puzzled on this side about this is an understatement at the every least! You may feel free to post this info. If the situation changes, I will let you know. There would be no objection from me if fans wrote letters to Warners about this!"

How can he not be in it?! WTF with a capital W! Oh wait, it's already a capital. with a 98789798pt size W!! He'd better bloody well be in it!

Via various folk on my f-list from mugglenet:

'Order of the Phoenix' casting news
Harry Potter Fan Zone has heard from Enchantment Casting, a British casting agency which represents young actors, that the role of Nymphadora Tonks has been filled by an unknown actress. Apparently she was cast right after casting began. Also, casting for the younger versions of Lily, Snape, Lupin, James, and Sirius is now in the final stages.

Now that we've got confirmation, I don't know whether I'm excited or worried that they're filming the Pensieve scene. What if they get it wrong? What if Sirius looks like the back-end of a bus? I never had to worry about it with PoA because, as we all know, I was one of those annoying people who jumped on the band wagon because of the film. Gary Oldman and David Thewlis were Sirius and Remus for me because I'd never really thought about it much otherwise.
